I’m Kim!

I’m a mum to 3 amazing humans, dog mum to 2 gorgeous fur babies, and a full-time business owner. My days may be super busy but I love everything about my life!

However, it wasn't always this way.

I, like many, have been challenged with my weight over the years! Fad diets, the cabbage, the soup diets, big weight loss programs, local nutritionists and more! Yet, it was always the same… initial weight loss but unsustainable long term. I was always left feeling disappointed, guilty, and frustrated.

Fun times… tired times… the best of times!

Throughout the fun times, baby raising and career change my body and my health were declining and by 2018 I was in the worst shape I’d ever been in. I was overweight, suffering from terrible sciatic pain, chronic inflammation, and I was on daily medication.

I found myself in a slump, unmotivated, uninspired, and relying on meals that were fast to prepare, cheap and easy… in other words, I was reaching for prepackaged, processed foods.

I started researching the effects that sugar has on the body.

It was around this time that a work colleague introduced me to a way of eating that focused on fresh whole ingredients and no sugar. With all of the research I’d done, I felt like this was what I’d been looking for, I knew I had to give it a go.

Although I was optimistic I knew changing what we were eating and going sugar-free wasn’t going to be easy.

I chose to reduce the overwhelm and start slowly, making small changes, swapping out our main meals for sugar-free alternatives, and focusing on eating whole foods.

First weeks

To be honest, the first few weeks were challenging,

My body went into full-blown sugar withdrawals, I was irritable, and had awful headaches. Initially, the kids were excited to try new things but as they realised that their nightly bowl of ice cream was no longer they weren’t so happy, but we stuck with it and continued to make slow, simple changes.

The result

After 3 weeks I was finally able to get out of bed without excruciating back pain. As I continued changing our meals my weight started dropping away. After 6 months I realised my body had easily released 25kg (55lbs), I was no longer on daily medication, no longer suffering from pain and I was FINALLY feeling in control of my eating for the very first time.

And THE BEST thing to have come out of changing the way we were eating? My son who has been struggling with a neurological condition started feeling better! His symptoms started to reduce, his confidence grew, we no longer needed doctor’s appointments AND he didn’t have to go on medication!
